Dominic Madera
Dominic Madera has participated in theatre since his freshmen year. He worked costumes, set and props for The Rocky Horror Show, sound design for Boeing Boeing, and went on to sound-head for You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. He has also sporadically been involved in acting events--such as World Premiere and Red Eye Theatre. In sophomore year, he was the Assistant Stage Manager for both Macbeth and Waiting for Godot (also helping with sound design here and there!). He tried something new as a member of light crew for Lysistrata, and then subsequently went back to sound for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. He is frequently involved in Poetry Slams across Houston. In 2015, Dominic Madera was one of the top 12 youth poets from across Houston, competing for a selective six positions to represent Houston at the National Youth Poetry Slam--Brave New Voices. During his time in the Carnegie Theatre program, he has had the luck of meeting intelligent, driven, and interesting peers--all from different areas and strengths within the theatre world--who have made him stretch himself; they have helped him become more efficient, more empathetic in his daily motions, and have given him a community outside of his friends and family. He also was a member of the set Crew during High School Musical (2016)
