ABOUT CARNEGIE THEATRE…
Started in 2010, by our own director, Mr. Steward Savage, Carnegie Theatre Co. has been a home to the Thespians of Carnegie Vanguard High School, providing the art of theatre to the Greater Houston area.
Carnegie Theatre has won prestigeous awards and competitions throughout its lifespan, such as 6 State Appearances at the UIL State Meet, placing 3 times and earning 2 State Championships. One in 2014 with Andrew Bovell’s, When the Rain Stops Falling, and again in 2016 with Holy Day by Andrew Bovell. Along with these prominent awards, Carnegie Theatre's Thespian Troupe, Troupe #7610, participates in National and state-wide competitions involving Texas Thespians. Claiming many National Qualifiers and National Champions.
Currently, Carnegie Theatre Co. is situated on the corner of W. Gray and Genesee Street, within Houstons’ 4th ward, in a now renovated Settegast Estate. The west end of the building housed Houston's Orange Crush bottling plant from the late 1930s to the early 1950s. The building’s architecture remains one of the few in the Houston area to feature the Art Deco style.

FROM OUR TROUPE:
CLASS OF 2026: Sebastian Mendoza
“When I first joined Carnegie Theatre, I had never really been a fan of the theatre community as a whole. I never really enjoyed the idea of acting on stage in front of people. However, Carnegie Theatre really helped show me a different aspect from what people usually see in theatre, Tech. When working with my fellow technicians, I’m able to work on my passions in painting and music while not having to act in front of an audience. Carnegie Theatre has also helped me find a community of artists who I know can consider a support group.”
CLASS OF 2027: Alexis Smith-Cooper
“Carnegie Theatre has influenced my life in so many ways. By having to attend rehearsals everyday, I’ve learnt about dedication and commitment. I’ve been taught about leadership and how to observe and communicate with many different people. It’s also been a great experience having so much support and people who care and appreciate me around me. When I’m having a hard day I always feel comforted whenever I walk into a rehearsal. In all Carnegie Theatre has made me such a better person, and i’m really grateful because of that.”
